We Had No Idea

America voted for "change" in the fall of 2008. We thought we were voting the slogan of a candidate. We had no idea.
Change was prophetic.
Change was what we all thought we wanted.
Change was what we thought we could control.
President Obama was smart to make that phrase part of his campaign
Most Americans thought we were going to change presidents
We were going to change policy.
We had no idea. Change was coming wether we liked it or not.
We are now seeing the extent of this change.
The economy, the war, our lives.
My guess is that by the end of this year, 2009, we won't even recognize some of the aspects of our modern life.
Credit, finances, transportation, business, commerce, the web.
Yup, it's all changing. For the better, we hope but who knows.
The change is underway. President Obama seems to be presiding over it but no one, it seems, can control it.
Perhaps, it's what we needed throughout the world.
We are at a crossroads where we are watching the world change as we become agents and bystanders of that change.
And history repeats itself.
When you think about it, the world changed just as radically in 1909 as it is in 2009.
Think about it.
